Punta de la Mora, located near Tarragona and included in the Natura 2000 network, is an emblematic space for its natural interest and its cultural and historical heritage. A study promoted by the Catalan Department of Territory and Sustainability has defined actions to improve its ecological connectivity with other natural protected areas nearby and facilitate its public use.
The analysis evaluates the barrier effect of the railway and several roads (N-340, A-7 and AP-7) in the surroundings and proposes actions to permeabilize these road infrastructures in a way that facilitates wildlife movement and the continuity of habitats and facilitates the movement of people. Actions for the restoration of habitats and the landscape are planned and routes for walks and trekking have been identified, which will protect the natural area from excessive frequentation and, at the same time, value its Roman historical heritage.
The project is part of the area of work to develop Green Infrastructure promoted by the General Directorate of Environmental and Natural Policies of the Department of Territory and Sustainability, together with the public company INFRAESTRUCTURES of the Generalitat de Catalunya. MINUARTIA, together with IGRemap, provides technical assistance for the development of the project.
