The development of European Green Infrastructure promoted from Barcelona

On 3 and 4 December 2013, members of the Green Infrastructure Network (GreenInfraNet) INTERREG IVC met in Barcelona. Barcelona Provincial Council’s Technical Office for Planning and Territorial Analysis is part of this network. GreenInfraNet is a network comprised of twelve regions in ten countries whose main objective is to strengthen the development and implementation of European green infrastructure at regional scale. To achieve this, the project is based on the exchange and dissemination of knowledge, experiences and good practices between members.

The meetings are held alternately in the different European regions that are project members. In Barcelona, the meeting was on the exchange of good practices, and included a presentation of work on SITxell, the Territorial Information System for the Network of Open Areas in the Provinces of Barcelona, which has been promoted and driven by Barcelona City Council.

Minuartia took part in the meeting, where it presented its work on modelling ecological connectivity for different groups of vertebrates as part of SITxell, in collaboration with the Forestry Technology Centre of Catalonia (CTFC).
