The Green Infrastructure Plan of the Vilobí d’Onyar municipality has been the first of its kind to be drafted and initially approved, and it is part of a pilot test for the drafting of the municipalities of Girona. These plans are promoted by the Diputació de Girona, which plan the development of green infrastructure in medium and small municipalities with the collaboration of the municipality’s citizens.
In the work, core areas of the green infrastructure have been identified, such as the Volcán de la Crosa de Sant Dalmai, the Onyar River, which includes priority community interest habitats and areas of interest for fauna, and other elements such as the forests located on the slopes of the Coguls and d’en Guilla mountain ranges. Seven ecological connectors have also been delineated, all associated with watercourses, and multifunctional spaces have been identified, forming agroforestry mosaics characteristic of the Selva plain.
The PEMIV defines six strategic objectives, some of which focus on maintaining and developing the ecosystem services relevant to the municipality provided by the elements of the green infrastructure. The objectives are specified in 23 operational objectives and 79 lines of action to be promoted during the 10 years of validity of the PEMIV.
MINUARTIA has provided technical assistance for the development of the work, including those aimed at promoting participation.
