Managing outbreaks of African Swine Fever in wild boar, at the UAB-AVPC pig conference

The management of African swine fever (ASF) outbreaks in wild boar was one of the key topics at the pig industry conference organised by the UAB and the AVPC. In a presentation given by the MINUARTIA team, the measures adopted to contain the outbreak detected in Catalonia were outlined, along with the experience of other affected European countries. Given the spread of the disease across Europe, wild boar have become a key factor in its epidemiology, reinforcing the need for coordinated efforts between animal health professionals, ecology experts and wildlife managers to prevent its spread.
