The European Programmes Service of the Diputació de Girona is promoting the preparation of the Diagnostic report on wetlands in five municipalities of Alt Empordà: Maçanet de Cabrenys, Darnius, Terrades, Pont de Molins and Lladó.
The aim is to assess the current ecological status of these areas, identify the main pressure drivers, and establish the foundations for a long‑term monitoring system.
Rivers and wetlands are ecosystems of high ecological value but are also fragile, increasingly subjected to recreational pressure, which requires rigorous planning to ensure their conservation and make it compatible with a sustainable tourism model.
The diagnosis includes detailed inventories, vulnerability analysis, and the definition of ecological indicators to prioritize future actions. It also foresees coordination between municipalities and management stakeholders to move towards integrated and cross‑municipal management. This work has been carried out with the technical assistance of MINUARTIA.
