Analysis of Eco-Landscape Constraints in the Territorial Planning of Belloch Park

The Belloch Park includes an agroforestry mosaic in the Vallès Oriental region (Barcelona province), which contains a Knowledge Park of about 30 hectares, where it is currently planned to expand the built area, promoting biodiversity and optimizing the integration of design, environmental, and landscape criteria. It is a property of high landscape value and strategic interest for biodiversity and ecological connectivity of the territory where it is located, highly fragmented by urban and infrastructure development.

The development of the Knowledge Park should allow the promotion of the knowledge economy in the territory and improve the socio-environmental quality of the agroforestry mosaic that characterizes the property.

MINUARTIA undertake the works of identifying the eco-landscape and territorial planning constraints that affect the land, to favour their integration into the planning of the Knowledge Park expansion. The work has included the modelling of ecological connectivity and the statement of strategic socio-ecological action objectives, which are considered key for the territorial transformation and ecological restoration of Belloch Park. These include the areas of biodiversity improvement; protection and management of natural habitats; landscape preservation; restoration of ecological connectivity; enhancement of circularity; and socio-environmental suitability of the buildings to be constructed.
