On May 4-6, Minuartia participated in the international workshop “AI and Edge Computing for Scientific Research”, organized with the participation of the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC) and held at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya in Barcelona. .
The workshop brought together nearly 40 researchers and professionals from Europe and the United States to explore how artificial intelligence, smart sensors and emerging data-processing technologies can transform scientific research and biodiversity monitoring.
As part of the workshop, Minuartia was invited to share its experience in wildlife monitoring and the application of new technologies in natural environments. Our contribution focused on experiences gained through wildlife monitoring projects, as well as the main challenges encountered when deploying sensors, automated monitoring systems and artificial intelligence directly in the field. One of the key topics discussed was the development of systems capable of collecting, processing and interpreting data in real time and on-site. This concept, known as edge computing, opens up new possibilities for biodiversity monitoring and ecosystem management.
The workshop provided an opportunity to exchange experiences with specialists in artificial intelligence, supercomputing, sensor technologies and environmental sciences, while also exploring new opportunities for international collaboration to develop more automated, efficient and intelligent tools for monitoring the natural environment.
To MINUARTIA, participating in this workshop represents an opportunity to connect field expertise with the most innovative technologies and to contribute to the development of solutions that advance biodiversity monitoring towards greater automation, accuracy and real-time capabilities.
