Development of the ‘Fauna and connectivity module of the territorial information system of the network of free spaces in the province of Barcelona’ (SITxell)

Barcelona Provincial Council
2003-2013

Project developed over ten years from the conception of the module to the obtaining of cartographies for groups of vertebrates.

Includes obtaining maps of: the potential distribution of amphibians, reptiles and mammals; the value of the territory for the conservation of amphibians, reptiles and mammals; and connectivity for reptiles, birds and mammals. In addition, for reptiles, connectivity has been analysed in various climate change scenarios.

The connectivity maps were calculated from the models that have been developed. The cartographies obtained are currently being used by Barcelona Provincial Council to generate maps of ecosystem services.
