Minuartia provided technical assistance to propose a set of actions to promote biodiversity and green infrastructure in nine wastewater treatment plants (WWTP) in the La Garrotxa region. Five of the plants are within the Natural Park of the Volcanic Zone of La Garrotxa. For this purpose, each WWTP and its environment was visited and assessed, the types of pressure generated by the WWTP were determined, and opportunities for improvement were identified. The proposals were specific to each WWTP and refer to naturalization of facilities, good management practices, ecological restoration to support habitats and species of interest, and actions to reduce pressure. Opportunities to collaborate with the Natural Park and with naturalist and environmentalist associations that work in the region are considered.
