Xavier Larruy

Degree in Biology

Degree in Biology from the University of Barcelona, he has been working for more than 20 years in many Catalan natural spaces for different public administrations, companies and organizations. Ornithology and rivers in Barcelona areas are his main topics of study and dissemination, trying to have an influence over the improvement at the ecological management of natural areas. He is a scientific advisor at Santa Coloma de Gramenet Biodiversity Shelter, researcher at the Rivus Observatory in the Besòs area avifauna study, and professor of the MsC in Landscape Architecture at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya.

He is also member of the Catalan Avifauna Committee of the Catalan Institute of Ornithology and co-author of several publications, such as the Natural Environment of the Solsonès, The Vertebrate Fauna of the Besòs in Montcada and The Birds of the Delta del Llobregat: an Example of Response to Environmental Changes. In Minuartia he colaborates with different avifauna studies related to infrastructures since 2010. He is currently doing censuses at Barcelona Airport and its surroundings and great cormorant around Llobregat River.
